What do I need?: Sidewalk is a Mac + iPhone setup. Install Sidewalk on your Mac, connect Claude Code or Cursor, then pair your iPhone by scanning the QR code in the Mac app. Both devices must be on the same Wi‑Fi network.
Does the iPhone app work without the Mac app?: No. The iPhone app is a companion — it syncs steps and shows agent status from Sidewalk running on your Mac. The Mac app is required.
Which AI tools are supported?: Claude Code and Cursor today. More agents are on the way.

My iPhone can't connect to the Mac: Confirm both devices are on the same Wi‑Fi network (not guest Wi‑Fi or a VPN that blocks local traffic).

Make sure Sidewalk is running on your Mac.

In the iPhone app Settings, check the bridge URL matches what the Mac shows when pairing.

Re-scan the QR code from the Mac app's phone pairing screen.
Steps aren't syncing: Grant Motion & Fitness permission when the iPhone app asks — Sidewalk needs it to read your step count.

Open the iPhone app after a walk ends, or tap Sync steps to desk on the home screen.

Steps sync over your local network; keep the iPhone app open or return to it after walking.
I'm not getting notifications on my iPhone: Allow notifications when the iPhone app prompts you.

Check iOS Settings → Notifications → Sidewalk and make sure alerts are enabled.

Notifications are sent when your agent needs you or finishes a run — start an agent session on your Mac to test.
Agent status isn't updating: Confirm agent hooks are installed on your Mac (Sidewalk → Connect your agent).

Start a new agent run in Claude Code or Cursor.

Keep Sidewalk running on your Mac while you work.
Captures aren't appearing on my Mac: Send from the iPhone app's Capture tab while connected to the Mac.

If you were offline, captures queue locally and send when the bridge reconnects.

Where does my data go?: Sidewalk syncs between your Mac and iPhone over your local network. No account is required. Your steps and captures stay on your devices.
